THE WORLD OF BUBBA WATSON IS ABOUT PLAYING IT RIGHT, ALL THE TIME

HERE’S THAT KID AGAIN. Hacking little plastic golf balls around the front yard.

All. Day. Long. If you were Bubba Watson’s neighbor in tiny Bagdad, Fla., in the late 1980s, you likely picked up your share of those plastic balls from around your house. You might have thought the kid nuts for spending so much time on a game like golf.

Show Review: SaltOriya Sizzles at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino thru August 17

DreamCast Entertainment has struck again with its new theatrical circus, SaltOriya, featured at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, MS.  This exciting show takes viewers into another world as the performers push boundaries of human imagination and create death defying thrills for on lookers.  The show takes a person’s dreams to the extreme, and is perfect for any audience of any age.  SaltOriya gives an out of world experience and allows people to live vicariously through the performers.  I recently had the pleasure of taking my daughters, six and nine years old, out on a date with mom to see SaltOriya. They were entranced and enthralled, in disbelief and amazement.  Their eyes were so big and filled with excitement.

Destination Lexington: Horse Farms & Bourbon Distilleries

THERE ARE FEW PLACES in the world as eclectic as Kentucky. Known as the horse and bourbon capital of the world, the state is the birthplace of approximately 30 percent of the nation’s horses each year and home to nearly 5 million barrels of aging bourbon. The entire state’s population is only 4.3 million, if that tells you anything.

While many horse farms and bourbon distilleries are scattered throughout the commonwealth, the city of Lexington, located in the heart of the Bluegrass State, has an array of both. In addition, the city is home to Keeneland, one of the most historic racetracks in the country and the world’s largest Thoroughbred auction house, where approximately half of the 11 Triple Crown winners have been sold.

Livin’ it Up in Lake Charles, Louisiana

WITH A FOURTH CASINO TAKING shape on its bayou waterfront, Lake Charles is a gaming destination to be reckoned with. Opening later this year, the $600 million Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino promises world-class luxury, from top-shelf dining and a marvelous spa, to an 18-hole golf course and specialty suites. The Nugget is in good company.

L’Auberge Casino Resort just completed a $20 million upgrade, Isle of Capri revamped to the tune of $15 million and Delta Downs is a leader in gaming, swank suites and entertainment with a decidedly country accent.

While gaming may get you to The Festival Capital of Louisiana, there’s a great deal more going on here than what goes down on the casino floor. Situated just three hours from New Orleans and an hour from the beaches and marshes of the Gulf, Louisiana’s fifth largest city delivers distinctive cuisine, a vibrant local music scene, a rich history and a serious dose of the great outdoors.

Banking on Side Bets in Blackjack

To encourage more players to visit the blackjack tables and also to improve their margins, many casinos have added side bets.

These innocent-sounding gambles usually require a rather small wager (typically a dollar) and generally return better than the customary even-money blackjack payoffs.

It’s a competitive market for side bets. Each year at Global Gaming Expo, the casino industry’s premier trade show (Global Gaming Expo), you will find a countless number of enthusiastic vendors pitching their side bets to casino officials. The reality, however, is many of them never make it to the casino floor, and the few that do die quickly because of lack of player interest.
