While Indiana law doesn’t permit properties that combine casino gaming with horseracing to offer live table games, that hasn’t stopped players from enjoying the best of both worlds at these so-called “racinos.” In fact, it’s the ability to view thoroughbred, quarter-horse and standardbred racing directly from the casino floor that makes Hoosier Park Racing & Casino so unique.
Located in Anderson, Ind., about 45 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, the property isn’t Indiana’s only racino, but it is the first and only fully integrated racetrack casino in the state, explains Grant Scharton, communications manager for the property. By “fully integrated,” Scharton means that Hoosier Park allows guests to view racing from the casino floor via audio-visual equipment, or through a wall of windows that displays the 7/8-mile oval track.
