Florida Gaming: Raising Revenues with Fresh Laws

A combination of the Florida racinos, racetracks and jai alai frontons along with the Seminole Tribe of Florida have all added reasons for celebrations. The facilities are gaining various combinations of tax breaks and expansion of products and hours — courtesy of a wide-ranging gaming law the Florida Legislature and Gov. Charlie Crist approved in late April.

A central part of the new law is a Tribal-State Compact between the Seminoles and the state government that gives the Tribe the state’s permission to continue with Class III Las Vegas-style slot machines at all seven of their casinos and with blackjack and baccarat at five of those facilities. In return, the Seminoles will pay the state a minimum of $1 billion from their gaming revenues over the next five years.

The Compact will become effective upon approval of the National Indian Gaming Commission. As of late May, that federal agency was still reviewing the Compact. (more…)

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino: Anderson, Indiana

While Indiana law doesn’t permit properties that combine casino gaming with horseracing to offer live table games, that hasn’t stopped players from enjoying the best of both worlds at these so-called “racinos.” In fact, it’s the ability to view thoroughbred, quarter-horse and standardbred racing directly from the casino floor that makes Hoosier Park Racing & Casino so unique.

Located in Anderson, Ind., about 45 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, the property isn’t Indiana’s only racino, but it is the first and only fully integrated racetrack casino in the state, explains Grant Scharton, communications manager for the property. By “fully integrated,” Scharton means that Hoosier Park allows guests to view racing from the casino floor via audio-visual equipment, or through a wall of windows that displays the 7/8-mile oval track. Additionally, guests can wager on horseracing from the casino floor, making it convenient to combine the best of both worlds. (more…)

Aristocrat Technologies: And They’re Off!

Aristocrat Technologies Inc. and Churchill Downs Incorporated (“CDI”) have entered into a licensing agreement to create the world’s first Kentucky Derby-themed slot machine. The pairing brings together two of the strongest brands in entertainment to create a product that will have slot players racing toward casinos to try their luck at the “Run for the Roses.”

The Kentucky Derby, annually staged on the first Saturday in May at the legendary Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., is the world’s premier horse race and America’s original, extravagant and glamorous springtime sports party. Now, the excitement and tradition of “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” will be captured in Aristocrat’s new Kentucky Derby RFX stepper slot game.

Aristocrat Technologies: Kentucky Derby Slot Machine

“We are thrilled to be the first company in the gaming industry to license the iconic Kentucky Derby brand,” says Aristocrat president Nick Khin. “This has been a collaborative development effort with both our U.S. and Australian R&D teams working on creating an exciting game and product concept around this worldwide-recognized brand.”

The partnership between the two gaming entities is a benefit for both parties.

“The Kentucky Derby is one of the few sporting events in the world that appeals to millions of people from every walk of life,” says Casey Cook, Churchill Downs Incorporated Vice President, Brand Development & Marketing. “While the Run for the Roses remains rich in tradition, the Derby brand continues to evolve. This thrilling new partnership with Aristocrat Technologies Inc. is a unique and exciting platform to extend the Derby brand and communicate our modern-day relevance to a broader, entertainment-seeking audience with similar interests to those of our sport’s core and casual customers.”

The new game made its world premiere last November at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, and it received great reviews. The game will be launched just prior to the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby, presented by Yum! Brands, on Saturday, May 1.

The five-reel RFX stepper product will deliver 135 years of brand recognition to the game and bring the heart of Louisville to the heart of casinos. The new game will premiere with a choice of two unique, themed launch base games: Oaks Day and Run for the Roses. Players will race for a four-level interactive jackpot with a Hyperlink trigger.

Aristocrat Technologies Inc. is a subsidiary of Aristocrat Leisure Limited (ASX: ALL), a leading global provider of gaming solutions that consistently outperform the competition. Cyberview Uncovers the Slot Machine of the Future

cyberview_slot.jpg(Las Vegas)- Cyberview Technologies thinks they may have answered the question of how to attract younger players away from the table games and turn them in to slot junkies; videogames.  At G2E, an annual industry trade show in Las Vegas, the company debued a proptype game, Glaxium, a videogame-like slot machine.

Here is how it works: As the player, you take control of spaceship flying through an alien landscape. As you dodge the enemy fighters bullets and asteroids coming at you, you can pick up extra weapons and destroy boulders. The attacks eventually progress until your spaceship too is destroyed. Each explosion acts like a pull of arm, activating the random number generator. And of course, to keep you playing, you have an infinite numbe rof lives! (As posted on Wired.com)
